WHAT IS SHAVUOT?
Shavuot is the Hebrew word for “weeks” and is the celebration of the harvest festival 50 days from First Fruits. In English we refer to this as the celebration of Pentecost. Pentēkostē, in the greek means fiftieth day. Pentē is 50 and is the count of 50 days from the waving of the first fruits offering.
"You shall also count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete Sabbaths. You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall present a new grain offering to the Lord"
3,000 Souls perished at Mount Sinai after the Giving of the Law and the Sin of Disobedience, 3,000 were added in Acts chapter 2 after the giving of the Spirit and the Obedience of the people. Both occurred on Shavuot. Coincidence?
